She lands up in the hold of a fishing boat with a hundred dead salmon and flees from men who trail her every step. On an airplane ride into the interior, after landing at a small lake, Jodi and Lexie meet an older couple who run a wilderness Bible camp. They also meet Jay, their grandson, who is very interested in Lexie. When Jodi explores the area by boat and finds more mystery as she meets an old man called Bearclaw and is trapped in his cabin.
Jodi discovers that the whole thing hinges on the painting Mikkel gave her at the beginning, yet she has lost it, and Mikkel is hiding a secret. With her relationship to Lexie fraying apart, and her heart troubled with fears and doubts, she cries out to God for help and finds Him faithful.
Yet she must face her worst fear — fire — to save those she loves and bring the greedy, wicked gang to justice. In that moment, she finds what she longs for most, and she discovers what it means to be forgiven, accepted, and totally loved.
